Muisc pausing for 2 seconds when playing

Hi wondered if anyone can help. When I try and play music in my itunes library it regularly jumps for a second and pauses for a second and then continues playing for a few minutes until the next jump! Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Give us a few clues...

What OS are you using?
What computer are you using?
What version of iTunes are you using?
Does it do it on all tracks - just MP3 tracks, just iTMS tracks?
Are you playing through external/internal speakers or wirelessly?
If wirelessly, what level of security does your router run?
Is the pause mid-song, at the start of a song?
What's the crossfade set to in iTunes preferences?

are you using a lyric widget?
my tracks jump every now and then if I have "import lyrics into iTunes" ticked on the widget
