Does such an application even exist? I would like to ask everyone which multi-im client is your app. of choice. I have tried AIM, BeeJiveIM and Meebo to no avail. They all deteriorate my battery percentage tremendously. One percent every 2-3 minutes on EDGE. I don't think this is normal?

What makes you think it's the IM client?

Tested by making it the only single app running.

My Location services are off, 3G off, unchecked everything in Spotlight search, brightness at 50%. No dice. I am getting the same battery results on two separate iPhone 4's so I've factored out the battery being a problem.

You've tried not running that app to see if your battery life is the same?

I use IM+ with no battery issue at all.

They're accessing the internet. They're going to drain battery. The more messages you send and receive the more battery will be lost. There's really no way of getting around it. I use Beejive and it works just fine for me.
