multi touch trackpad

i have heard many people talk about apple incorporating their new multitouch into the screen. i personally did not think that this would happen.

i then read someone mention incorporating multi touch into the trackpad. this is sort of the two touch scrolling.

i also saw another feature where you can write on the trackpad like a, dare i say it, tablet.

what other cool features involving multi touch do you think that apple can incorporate into their laptops?

Yeah I think that'd be great, but imagine how hard it would be to do the pinching stuff with photos.

I wish they'd figure something out though.

If they could figure out a way to maybe expand and shrink windows it'd be real cool. They would need a much bigger trackpad though to really make any possibilities work effectively.

Watch this Jeff Han video--after you see it I think that your view about multi-touch being a reality for Apple in the future will probably change. Most computer companies within the next 2 to 10 years will adopt it as a standard that is just as necessary as the keyboard and the mouse. The standard average computer that is sold will have a multi-touch screen in 10 years from now.

Apple has already done this with its laptops. I have a multi-touch iBook trackpad. The MacBooks have multi-touch trackpads (click here and look in the right-hand column to see) and the iPhone will have a multi-touch screen when it is released (and the partially working iPhone prototypes have fully functioning multi-touch screens on them).

A giant multi-touch screen is much better than a track pad (and yes it has much more applications than a small iPhone screen too).

if you're pinching two fingers anyway for zooming, how hard would it be to use two fingers to cmd-"+/-"? multi-touch is a great concept for a small handheld device with limited input options. but a computer with a keyboard and mouse/trackpad has all the input it needs.

What a cynical thing for a naïve person to say. Just because you've never used a touch screen before doesn't mean that you should think it is worse. If we lived in the early 1900s then you'd probably say that the horse and buggy is better than the automobile--if it were the 1880s you'd say that the lightbulb wasn't any better than the candle. We still do use the candle today (and occasionally a horse and buggy) and we still use our keyboards and mice tomorrow but we will also have the option of using the superior touch screen that can do much more than what a keyboard and a mouse can do by themselves. To see what I mean watch this video and listen closely to what Jeff Han's words and really think about he is saying.

Well I know that some of the things that I can say can be pretty harsh. But my main purpose is to be to the point. Un-censoring the truth is my specialty but more importantly is beneficial (and often is the most necessary thing to do) even if it is sharp when it is bluntly said.

What I like to say is "if the truth (about what you do) hurts then you are doing something wrong". The whole point about being honest is so that things can be made better after the truth is know. The truth can only be known when things are said clearly (i.e. bluntly).
