I just bought a 17" powerbook, after using PC's forever. As far as Graphic Design and Video editing software goes, I'm all set. For editing multi-track audio, I've been using ACID Pro on my PC, and unfortunately, Sonic Foundery doesn't make this app for the MAC---bummer!!! Besides an expensive program like ProTools, does anyone have any suggestions of OS X multi-track audio programs?? All I really want is a program that lets me lay down multiple tracks, and I really don't want to have to use Final Cut Pro for my musical productions. Doesn anyone have something that I can download from them, or suggestions of where I can download it. I miss the ease of free downloading on my PC---besides that, I'm totally stoked with my powerbook.

I've been using Cubase, but I think it's a little buggy still. If you don't mind a steeper learning curve, there is always Logic. Reason is now working flawlessly with both of them, and a combination of these two is fantastic, IMO. I haven't checked out Apple's new thing "Soundtrack" yet, maybe that's what you're looking for?
BIAS Deck is pretty cheap and useable. I think Peak has a little recording option, but the DV version that ships with FCP is pretty much useless, IMO.
I'm in the same boat--I love Acid. It is the only thing I even remotely miss on the PC--and VPC is a little painful. I haven't found anything quite like it on the Mac yet. It looks like the new "Sountrack" might be pretty close and it will read Acid files. The price is pretty far off though--I think I paid $80 for Acid--no chance of getting Sountrack for that price.
Also, check out Sound Studio. It's free for a period of 14 non-consecutive days. Easy interface, acceptable amount of features, records, and edits.
