Personally I think the Plus is too small for that feature to have any benefit. iPad yea, but iPhone just doesn't have enough screen real estate. Maybe in landscape mode it'd be beneficial. Again, just my opinion.
Well, it was on a 4.7" screen w/ the GS3, so I would hope Apple throws it into an update because the potential is great.

I don't see it appearing either. Besides, Split View is in a sense dependent upon the resolution of iPhones. For instance, Slide-over has the same minimal width as an iPhone. iPhones don't have that option as a fallback, which means that developers would have to make sure that their app can be shrunk even more. This means extra work, whereas Split View currently doesn't require anything more aside from adopting universal sizes or size classes.
I think being able to "peek" into an app from the corners makes more sense. Right now I take screenshots and switch between them in an image widget in my Today screen, which is working better than switching between an app, especially when said app times out and is blank in the multitasking screen.
I'm also using Workflow and PCalc's widgets, plus BeWeather. There are also clipboard managers and the like.
Being able to watch a video while doing something else would be nice though. Especially when an Apple keynote is going on.

On iPhone I think a video stuck to the top part of screen (like in the YouTube app) could work quite well and be an easy transition because the remaining vertical space on an iPhone 6 Plus would still be somewhere between a 4s and a 5s.
And having it fixed there and having the whole UI adapt to it would be more workable than have it floating on top of things which at that size could get too annoying.

Well, perhaps not stupid, but maybe not all that great and/or useful to various people.

It works so well and was adopted so quickly on the iPad because it's using what is already there. The aspect ratio of the iPhone throws a wrench into the works. It's not as simple as just turning something on or giving something to the iPhone that the iPad already has.
Untill it officially becomes available on iPhone (if ever) you could either do a jailbreak or use one of these apps so you can at least have a split internet browser (website, Office365, YouTube) or have PDFs show side by side in one app.
Idk what it will do to my Apple Care because this is the first time I got Apple Care for an iPhone.

Why so? You could have the YouTube app open and be listening to music whilst you do something else for starters...
Problem with that example is that it can be achieved with background music mode as well which youtube does not allow and has just started allowing with youtube red users. So its youtube's call for not implementing that right now also in iOS. Split view is basically meant for two apps needed to work together and given the small screen size of iPhone, the benefits out of it are minimal.
But we can already do this without Split View feature on an iPhone if you only want to listen to music. There are various music apps in the store which offer this background playback feature. If you want to use YouTube for it then you can either subscribe to YouTube Red or download an alternative app that offers background audio playback (and also Slide Over / Split View and PiP on the iPad only) such as ProTube.
Try to think out of the box. This wouldn't be limited to Youtube. E.g. Sport streaming apps often don't support any background video/audio. A bit annoying when some emails comes in. PiP on the 6S+ would be great. Also background Airplay in Safari (with a locked device) is such a hit and miss that i would prefer PiP instead.
