I have a late-2013 27" iMac that I have hooked to a secondary monitor (Nixeus Vue 24"). The display was working without issues a few weeks ago, but I recently performed a clean install of 10.11.4 and my second monitor stops working after the computer goes to sleep overnight. I do have a second computer that uses this monitor as it's primary display but this did not have an effect on the setup before I reformatted. Has anyone else experienced this issue and is there a way to fix this without performing a re-install? If you need more information from me just ask.

If it happened after the upgrade then there is the clue . Go through all the setup for using a second display again and check that it is as you set it first time around. I am sure you have done all the obvious stuff like checking leads etc , but its amazing how many times the problem has been my finger fault.

Well I appreciate the help on this but every recent Mac I've owned has connected to a second monitor out of the box without requiring any extra setup. I'm thinking this might be a corrupted property list. I've never seen a set up screen for multiple displays on Mac OS, can you elaborate on that?

Just go to settings, display , and there are a few options which will show second monitor , if it does not show a second monitor then the your IMac can't find it .

If it does not show then go into about this Mac , system report, select graphic displays It will give you readout of your graphics card and any displays connected to it .
If it's not there then I would reload a clean copy of the OS , if you made a bootable USB instead of downloading direct from App store ,I would be inclined to make another.

Yeah it's just not showing up, I turned off system sleep to see if that prevents the Mac from disconnecting the second monitor but haven't had enough time to see if it actually worked. I'm really against re-installing because I've already copied and downloaded all my files (~1.5 TB) but if it gets to that I understand it's a necessary evil.
