Hi

I posted this in Lion but didn't get any replies so thought I'd try here as it does sort of relate to ML eventually! And I remember having this problem with ML and sorting it but can't recall how or find the topic.

A friend has 10.7.5 installed. Every time we launch Excel (2011) for example, or Safari (latest version), they open the last few files instead of just the one we want and Safari opens a number of windows last visited with the focus being on the last one. Yet I have set the Safari preferences to open the Home page (Google search) when it is launched.

Any ideas? I wanted to sort this one out before installing ML.

TIA

RE: opening windows...

Hi,

I don't have Lion (currently on ML), so I can't directly determine if this is your issue, but under ML there is a check box in the General pane of System Preferences that keeps applications from opening the old windows that were open when you last quit the application.

If you want the application to open old windows but only the last one, then before quitting the application you need to close all of the windows you don't want to reopen when you next start the application. In other words, I don't think Safari/application can determine just the single window/file you want it to open, unless you close all of the others first before quitting the application.

Regards,
Switon

Yep, that sorted it.

Many thanks.
