Multiple iCloud Archives - why?

I have multiple iCloud Drive (Archive) folders in iCloud and don't know why they appeared and how to clean this up?
I decommissioned my Intel iMac when my Mac Mini M1 arrived.
I also decommissioned my Intel Macbook Pro.

Since my files were in iCloud, I went to search for one and that's when I couldn't find it which led to the discovery of multiple iCloud Archives.

Any suggestion on what I do at this point?

I have the same situation. Thank you for the article! Now I get what has happened and how I got here.
Is there any process or tool for comparing the two sets of data? It appears this started a few months ago and I don't want to have to compare files manually as I have lots.
