i connect my iPhone X to rMBP and open iTunes and it says i need to install 12.1.2 iOS. It is already updated on my iPhone. i still backed iPhone up thru iTunes. But, not sure if i should tell iTunes to update anyway. also there is an orange exclamation mark to right of the search box on top right of iTunes screen. says we couldn’t make your iCloud music library available. i did dl all music before i cx iTunes Match. When i open iPhoto’s in iCloud it says preparing photo library. did that last night too. never finishes. i don't have many photos and fast internet. are these individual issues or signs of a bigger issue. i have access to all music and movies on iPhone and rMBP. should i click on dl and install 12.1.2 in iTunes and see what happens? i did reboot iPhone and rMBP and signed in and out of iCloud from Safari. thanks

Apple released a revised version of 12.1.2, which is why iTunes prompted you for the update. That’s not an error.

ah, ok did not know that

but, i just updated my iPhone 2 days ago and iPhone says up to date. would iTunes not know that?

or, would just having the itunes update show be connected to my sync issues?

The update that shows in iTunes is not available in software update on the phone itself. Apple hasn’t documented what changed with the update, so I have no idea if it might solve the sync problem. I’d try signing out of iCloud completely on the phone (in Settings, not Safari).

i was gonna do that but wasn't sure if anything would be lost

i did go into iPhone/settings/music and toggled off iCloud Music Library. But, the entire option disappeared. So, I can't toggle back on.

iCloud music Library requires iTunes Match or Apple Music, which I think I read you canceled.

yes i did cx. but the toggle was still there. now gone.

since all my music is dl'd, guess I need to redo playlist, or try to sync it from rMBP.

never did well doing that, lost stuff in the process

i believe if i want to sync from rMBP to iPhone thru iTunes I need to have all songs, albums, playlists, artists etc checked. anything unchecked in iTunes will be deleted from iPhone during sync.
[doublepost=1546833166][/doublepost]i updated iOS thru iTunes. but orange exclamation mark is still there. i don't use iTunes much. so, maybe it has been there since i cx Match.

I think I understand all that happened and why. Photos are now in the cloud.

However, all the music I brought to iTunes, and owned, is gone from iPhone. But, still on rMBP.

If I do a restore from iTunes, will it put the Toggle for iCloud Music Library back on iPhone and hopefully my missing music. Kinda doubt it.

I may have to try a sync from rMBP to iPhone. Or, resubscribe to iTunes Match for one year.

Any thoughts, thanks

Again, you cannot use iCloud Music Library without either an Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription. Without either of those, you can only put music on your iOS devices via your iTunes app on your computer.
