Hello,

I know this question have been asked several times but there were different answers. I'll try to make it short, but please help me out. I've been counting the days for ios5 from the 1st day apple announced it, but then I was afraid to update.

1- I have 2 accounts, I purchase apps with both. Will I be able to use both on all my devices if I didn't enable automatic downloads. Am I going to be able to sync apps from each account.

2- should I associate icloud with one of them OR a completely new .me. If I'm going to use one of them should I choose the one used for most of the downloads.

3- some people say that we should make a clean installation for ios5, does that mean I'll Lose my scores and folders.. Can I skip that and just update or will the ios5 automatically make a clean update.

4- does ios5 take too much space than ios4

I don't want to make the wrong decision because I'm traveling in a few days without my laptop, and I don't want to have any problems with my iPad/iPhone while I'm away.

Sorry it's too long, thank you.

Probably best to wait until after you come back from your trip to update. Getting used to iCloud is tricky, as obvious from all the questions you have about it. Best to do it when you have plenty of time to sort out any issues, without an impending trip hovering on you.

My first question is why you are using 2 different iTunes accounts to purchase apps. You're just asking for trouble and confusion. Of course the simplist way is to use the .me account and use it for iTunes, iCloud and iMessage.
If that's not a choice use just one account to purchase apps. I don't know if you can use apps on from different iTunes accounts on one device. I could be wrong though. In my experience, iOS 5 took up alot less space that iOS 4. Whatever you do, try and use as least accounts as possible. You shouldnt need to make a new account. Just use your most used iTunes account and use that for iCloud and iMessage.

Night Spring: Thank you, I guess you are right it's better to wait.

GraphicsGeek: If I had a choice I wouldn't have made 2 accounts. Regardless, I use both alot, I mean really alot so none of the accounts can be neglected.

I have one account for the store. After I updated to iOS5, it changed my apple id for the store to my me.com account. Luckily I hadn't purchased anything on that account so I was able to log out of the store (settings/store/touch "apple id"/log out) and log in with my usual apple id (I use on my computer). I use my me account for notes, calendar, reminders, etc.

The problem I found after installing some freebies, was that the id on my computer (different from my me account) would not sync with the apps I installed with my me account on my iphone. If I were you, I'd choose the most used account and stick with that one for future purchases. Good luck to you. :)

Mindy60: that's weird, but you were lucky because I can't stick to one account as I have many applications purchased with each. So if I found that I won't be able to use both I won't update, but Apple would really lose a very loyal customer as I was on my way to getting MBP and iMac. BTW I still don't have a .me my accounts are both gmail.. Thank you for your support.

Don't anybody now the answer for sure?? I've been allover the internet for a month & still nothing!!!

I don't think this is specific to the iOS5 update. It's the inconvenience of not being able to conveniently change email addresses to use as an apple id. I feel for you, I truly do! I was in the same predicament as you until I learned what I did before doing any damage. I could have gone on with two accounts if I hadn't learned from someone here that you could log out/log in to the store on my phone.

Why don't you call Apple about this? You've definitely done your homework.

I don't want to make the wrong decision because I'm traveling in a few days without my laptop, and I don't want to have any problems with my iPad/iPhone while I'm away.

Sorry it's too long, thank you.

1. I only have 1 IOS device, but i do have multiple accounts. As long as you Authorize both accounts in iTunes you can sync all of the apps/media from both. On your device its a little more tricky, you will have to log out and log into the other one to buy apps from the 2nd account, or update the apps.

2. Associate iCloud with the one you will use the most. having 2 accounts is hard enough but 3 would be just plain annoying.

3. Unless your an unlocker who has to make there own firmwares, there's no reason not to just update. But if you do chose to restore you will loose all of your data, but you can restore all of it VIA iTunes.

4. IOS 5 does take allot more space than IOS 4 and i wouldn't recommend it on a 8GB device, but it doesn't make much of a difference on a 16 GB or better device.

And as stated before you probably should wait to update until you get back from your trip

I hope i answered all your questions satisfactorily.
