I'm involved with a dance competition and we need iPads for judge's scoring.

We will be getting five iPads.

I know they will need an AppleID to download the app. But can they all share the same AppleID?

I've never had more than one iPad associated with an AppleID... so I don't know how multiples will work. :p

Thanks!

Yes, they can share the same AppleID. Really not different from having an iPhone and iPad connected to the same AppleID.

Potential issue is iCloud documents or syncing. I don't know how your app will work but you probably don't want scores made by one judge to overwrite the scores made by another judge because of iCloud syncing. If that's not an issue with your app, then it's fine.

Thanks for the reply.

The iPads connect to a laptop running the dance software via a dedicated WIFI network. Sort of a "Master Control"

No iCloud or docs syncing required... thank goodness! :p

The iPads are basically dumb terminals. It's a pretty slick system. I've seen it in action at other dance events.

I was just concerned about the AppleID. All they have to do is download that one app.

I think I'll create a new AppleID just for those iPads to keep everything organized.

Thanks again! :)

you may want to look into Configurator rather than trying to use apple IDs. the only reason to perhaps involved an apple ID is to find my ipad/activation lock the iPads should one go missing. in which case yeah you could use the same one.
