I somewhat hijacked someone else's thread recently, but figured I'd start my own to address this question. Three people in my immediate family, with three MacBooks. I don't want all of our old photos on our individual MacBooks, but rather in a centralized location for archival purposes, as well as for easy viewing outside of the home (via iPhone, etc.).
I have an always-on computer which runs Windows 7 Media Center and Plex. What I'm thinking I'd like to do (and think I can do) is have individual iPhoto libraries on each of our computers for temporary storage and for optimizing the editing process. But, once we're happy with the photos, we'd move them to a centralized iPhoto library located on a hard drive connected to my always-on server. We'd also each have our own Flickr accounts and upload our photos there, but then have a group account (e.g., for Family) where we could share.
I believe that for the central iPhoto account, only one person can be logged in at a time.
FWIW, I'm thinking we'd use Flickr instead of iCloud just because we can get a ton of storage for free there.
Does all of this sound doable? Anyone here doing something similar? Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
