Hi All,

I have an unlocked iPhone and i'm facing several severly dibilitating problems, I wonder if someone could help me??

1. My home button has just stopped working. I can use the touch screen but when I go into any of the service (e.g. phone book/calls) then I can't get back as the home button doesn't respond.

2. My SMS is messed up, everytime I try to click on the SMS button it just opens the folder, and then closes it without showing anything. The same thing happens if I see the preview of an SMS and try to view the whole thing.

3. Every couple of seconds while I am using the phone I get the message 'This accessory is not made to work with the iPhone' etc. Even though nothing is plugged in to the iPhone at all.

4. The sound is coming out as if there is a broken speaker or something, it sounds very tinny and scratched.

5. When I answer calls no one can hear me so it seems as if the mic is not working.

6. Everytime I plug my phone in to my computer I get the message that there is a 'power surge on the usb port'. This used to work before but all of a sudden its stopped working.

I have definately dropped my phone once, but it wasn't from very high up and it was on to a carpeted surface.

I really don't know what to do, I can't give it to a service centre as it is an unlocked phone and they don't support it after its unlocked :-(

Is this the end for my iPhone?? If so, I really think i'm going to switch to blackberry b/c its really not worth it if the phone is not supported by the service provider.

Please let me know if anyone can help at all?!?!?!

You sound angry that they do not support it...because you unlocked it...why should they?

best of luck to you

NO!!!!!

Just restore to 1.1.2. Dont upgrade to 1.1.3. People have been bitching to no end about 1.1.3. Just do a restore/downgrade/whatever to 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 unJailbroken. That should fix all your problems. But if they persist, then do a full restore and then take it to a service center.

I have the exact same issue, after dropping my phone onto my kitchen floor. Mine is also unlocked (having a locked iphone is like a porsche with a governor).

Does yours show up in device manager, if a pc, because mine does not, although plugging in will charge and initiate the airplane mode question.

If I could get itunes to recognize, i'd go to 1.1.3 in a heartbeat; unlock from that point on, but even locked is better than the state it's in.

I wonder if I drop it again, will it fix itself? :D

I'm wondering if this is just a loose connection on the board, or an actual component that's failed or failing. The drop caused it, so i'm hoping it's the later..... :(

Just know that if you do restore to 1.1.3, and your phone has the newest bootloader (4.6) you will not be able to jailbreak it. Check your serial number and if the 4th and 5th digits are over 45 (thats the build week and thats when the newest bootloader was starting to get installed), you will not be able to hack it. I was not aware of it, and my phone fell in this category, so just be aware.
