Multiple user switching is pretty bad in Sonoma. We've always had 4 accounts in our family, across all our devices, and it's always been pretty straight-forward We recently got a new M3 iMac, and everything seemed to set-up well. But we are running into so many bad, bad bugs with user switching.

auto-SLEEP settings work on 2 accounts, but not the other 2.
My MESSAGES won't send from my SMS, but it works w all the other accounts.
APP STORE won't work on one account. But does on all the others.
One account causes a system crash after logging-out, when another user tries to log in afterwards. Every. Time.
Sleep key command doesn't work at all.
Overall the interface is different…and not as intuitive.
iCloud sync problems on all accounts
Horrible Spotlight and Finder search on 2 accounts (rebuilding index doesn't help)

These issues really cause havoc in our family. It's making our new (expensive) computer the least favorite…now everyone fights over the 2019 MacBook Pro.

Ugh.

I agree, contact Apple.

Or if not, backup data, clean install of OS and Apps, restore data, do not restore OS. If you do a restore you're likely restoring whatever software problems already exist.

Then start documenting what happened, what you tried to resolve the issues etc.

I don't think it's realistic for someone to help you with a laundry list like that.

always good to have a laugh, but why would you not call apple? or would actually resolving the issues remove the need to vent? 🤔
Not sure why you're being so sensitive. I thought you were kidding. Do you call apple with MacOS bugs?

I posted this here in case others were seeing any of these same issues. I've seen a few on other threads, but not all these specific ones.

Maybe it's just me but that's way past my level of "tweaking bugs". It seems like there's something pretty wrong with your installation.

When was the last time you did a fresh install, no restore of previous OS/settings?

I'm not even running Sonoma yet. I was just passing by for a "state of the nation". But with all of those issues I'd be doing a clean install for sure. Sorry I can't be more help on the specifics.

The bolded section is the key here. This does sound like it's more of a one-off issue rather than a widespread issue. There's numerous reasons why you might be having the issues you are describing, including how (or even if) Family sharing is set up, Screen Time restrictions (if you have young children with their own logins), even settings specific to the individual user profiles could be responsible for these issues. This is why multiple people in this thread have suggested you contact Apple Support.
