Hi, I was really looking forward to use PowerPoint with two (or more) windows at the same time, so that I won’t have to close a presentation in order to open another one...

... but the “multiple windows of the same app” feature seems to be working only with a few apps, like apple maps and Safari.

What about the rest of the apps? Do we have to wait for them to be updated?
Or this is a feature that works only with certain apps? (That would suck...)

Hi

Yes, I've hit the same thing with Numbers and Pages. Apple even says in its support site that you can open Pages multiple times, but I can't work out if it's not been implemented or I'm doing it wrong.

I really need to be able to work with spreadsheets side by side.

Well, looking at several tutorials, it really shouldn't be so hard to do... you just have to click on the dock icon and you should get a "+" sign on the top-right corner.
It actually works petty seamlessly with Safari and Maps... so it should work in the same way for all the other apps.

It might be necessary for Microsoft, Apple, Google etc.. to update their apps... maybe?

... yeah, doesn't work for Pages or Numbers. Just on a support chat with Apple. They're going to "do some research" and phone me tomorrow.

I notice you can't do it in Books or Photos either, but this quote from Apple US site says it should work in Pages at least:

Multiple windows from the same app
You can now open multiple windows from the app in Split View. Perfect for working on two notes or Pages documents, viewing two maps, or organizing files in the Files app.

Let's see.

... so had the call. Ended up with the senior guy who said he's going to have to refer it to the developers. He's going to get back to me today or more likely tomorrow.

I assume everyone is having the same issues as everyone in this thread?

Thanks

Stuart

This is weird... I mean, this feature has been heavily advertised... 🤔

The feature is ready at the OS level, but now every app must be updated to take advantage of it.

The same happens with Split View or Slide Over: some apps allow it and some don’t. But since they have been around longer, most apps have taken the step.

I understand that, but I expected this to be ready at least for Apple’s own apps (e.g. numbers).
It seems a bit lazy on their part 🤨

Office just updated with dark mode, but still one presentation/document at a time :(

Pages has updated with the feature listed but still doesn’t work
It will work, however, you cannot open the same document and have it in split mode which sort of makes sense. If you correct one then the other one should automatically update. You therefore, would need to make a duplicate copy and open this beside the original document.

I would like to open two different documents at the same time... so I could copy and paste between them.
Same for two ppt files...
