iPad Pro multitask/split view/side by side

sorry, easy question here i think.....

i want to use 2 apps together, that are both ios11 optimised.

1) for instance, i want to use "Notability" and the "Calculator HD" app, both on my front screen, together. none of which are in my dock. how do i achieve this?

2) can i have 3 or 4 or more apps open together or displayed at the same time on my screen?

If your iPad has 4 gigs of ram, you can have two apps open, plus use slide over for a third. You could also run video in a fourth window
