We all know that the iPhone has 5-point multitouch and the iPad has 10(!)
I was wondering if any other device that has multitouch, has more than 2?

They seem to be, other devices like the Nexus One and HTC Desire are plagued with multi-touch issues. The droid/milestone has 5 point i think. Apple has the best touch screens for a device out at the moment.

Considering the droid and nexus etc etc, they don't have "real" multi-touch whatsoever. So far I'd say apple is definitely ahead of the curve. They so have this technology patent.

You were correct to ask about devices themselves, not the OS.

For instance, I believe that Android can register up to 256 touches, if the hardware allows. Other OSs would be similar.

So it's really up to which touchscreen controller manufacturer is used and what they support. Most support at least three fingers.

Note 1: There's some cool new technology coming, btw, with some of the neatest options based on resistive screens. For instance, this touchscreen with at least ten simultaneous touch capability. It can use fingers, stylii, even see light brush strokes... all at the same time.

Note 2: As you might know, Apple's particular screen controller patent is under attack over multitouch right now.

"Elan Microelectronics" Apple will either buy them with spare change or eat them for lunch! :p No one can or will ever be able to compete with Apple's touch screen! I owned a nexus one for about three days and the touch screen sucked.
