Multitouch Desktop Keyboard?

I wonder if Apple will introduce a keyboard with a built-in multitouch trackpad when it updates the mini and the iMac? How else will they bring multitouch to the desktop?

It is possible. Although, I think it will be hard for Apple to design such a thing. The only real possible way to bring it to the desktop is to Make iMacs Tablet esq and I doubt it will ever come to the mini

There are current keyboard with track pads built into them, so I don't see why not.

However, considering that Apple just revamped the keyboards (relatively recently), I don't seem them doing that for a while. Perhaps '09.

Maybe With a iMac and Mac Pro update they make a Keyboard thats touchscreen, like a tablet Laptop but in a keyboard. That would be a Designers delight. I dont see it happening though.

To tell you the truth, I was actually dreaming about Apple doing this, but I couldn't figure out how.

Could Apple make the keyboard like the MacBook's keyboard, add a number pad, and put the track pad where the arrows used to be? Then the track pad would be too small...
They'd have to make the keyboard bigger... Then what about the super small wireless keyboard? Maybe they could make a new item, the iPad, or the iTouchPad.

I have no idea, but I would love multi touch on the iMacs, Mac Minis, and Mac Pros, and MacBooks.

My opinion, of course, but that would really suck and for similar reasons that an all touch interface sucks for serious gaming - lack of tactile feedback. While the idea of having a fully customizable keyboard is definitely attractive, I don't like the idea that I won't be able to orient myself to where keys are without looking at the keyboard. For this kind of a touch interface to be effective as a full time keyboard, they need to figure some sort of solution or workaround to the problem.

I wouldn't want multitouch when im using a mouse and keyboard

If im using a mouse and a keyboard I dont think I would enjoy having to take my hands off the mouse to touch a keypad when I can do it with my mouse.
Great for notebooks but.

The touchpad is the same as the iPhones... just without the LCD behind it lol. Touch screens on desktops are the future (watch the matrix)
