Maybe I'm missing something here. I hope I am.

I was looking forward to being able to control music and podcasts directly from the home screen without having to even open the app - but it appears this isn't possible, and the widgets basically serve as extra large app icons (granted, that provide more information) that simply open the app and have no functionality within the home screen other than to display what's currently playing.

Anyone else feel this way?

I do. Like, a mini-Messages app already pops up when you long press notification banners from both the notification screen and the Home Screen. We can interact with those. So why not a Messages widget where tapping it would pop up this mini app? A play/pause toggle and forward and reverse for Spotify would be awesome. I would really love to see these both and I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I’m not here to dump on Apple. I really appreciate a lot about the experience. But this non-interactive widgets thing and bizarrely arranged Library folders annoy me to no end. Just give us more already.

Yeah, I wasn't here to dump on Apple either - still miles better than any alternatives...I just find the lack of ability to interact with widgets to be strange.

I feel that way, too. I hope they become interactive with a future update. As it is right now, I don't know exactly what to do with them.
