Hi all,
I have several compilations albums in my library, but this album (Grease) has it own “Compilations” sub section. I would rather not have this. All albums are purchased from iTunes/Music app.

Can anyone shed some light on why this is and how I can remove this section?

You can't remove a compilation setting from a purchased album. If you right click on the album > Get Info > Details, you should see about halfway down there's a setting "album is a compilation ...".

Indeed it does but so do the older compilation albums that I have.

I may have found an explanation in an Apple community discussion for someone who had the opposite problem (wanting compilation albums to appear under that subheading):

"If any compilation albums have one or more tracks that the track artist is blank, "mixed" or "various artists" then the whole album doesn't appear under the compilation sub-heading. Is soon as I entered the track artist it moved the album into the correct place."

But I realize this may not help you if you're not able to edit those fields.
