Cool!

Now...will it work with the 7th-gen iPod? If it will, it might make me consider trying Catalina again. It was such a PITA before and it was one of the reasons I reverted to Mojave. (The other reasons: I use Levelator and Jing religiously, but they're only 32-bit apps, and the Levelator developer retired the project.)

Music 1.0.2 also runs under the current 10.5.1 release.

Just noticed that the Music App in 10.15.2 beta has the Column Browser. It missing was my biggest gripe! Yeah!
thanks for the update

🎉 Very good news  - what a relief - I totally missed that

I downloaded the Beta yesterday and opened music as ussual after every update and did not notice it - but there it is - right there in the in the View menu - 👍

Oh well. At least we're back to the level of functionality offered 20 years ago by iTunes 1.0. ;)

itunes-browse-the-library
Not sure how that version would handle 60K tracks. But I was a user then with a smaller library. Most of my stuff was in CDs with disk space too precious to encode. Still have the CDs and recoding in lossless now.

I think Music and TV are a compete mess, the whole thing is not intuitive. But I did get used to iTunes so I imagine I just need to allow these apps to mature.

it does not stay put - but you really don't need it with Column Browser back

Edit - I don’t know why I made that comment because you really do need a key search ability even with the column browser and the filter field is the only choice you have - very annoying to reactivate each time you use it

So I have been testing Column Browser (never used before) vs the filter field.

If I type "Miles", yes, it takes me to Miles Davis. But how do I then quickly go back to "all artists", without having to scroll up?

EDIT: When I search John Coltrane by artist in column browser, it misses a few albums. What's going on??

Quick way to go back to “all artists” is to delete the text in the filter field and / or click the header of each of the columns to make sure they areback at “all” not on a specific artist
