I’m on the latest release (not beta) of BS 11.1, and on an M1 MBP. I ported my iTunes libary and media files on an external drive from High Sierra to the Music app on my M1 MBP - it’s connected to the MBP on an external drive. When I fire up the Music app it asks me to “choose library”, and I do so.
First the playlists bug - when I perform a search for an artist + album, the results don’t show albums that I last imported to iTunes when it was on High Sierra. Instead, those albums can be found only in the Recently Added in the left side panel - when I look manually through “Songs”, I can’t find them, and they don’t come up in search *only* in the Recently Added playlist.
Second, I don’t have the search field in the Music app by default, I have to manually select it from the View Menu “Show Filter Field”. Then, it regularly disappears and I have to enable it again (and again, and again). It’s so stupid, since I use that the search function constantly, and to not have it there by default is just pure idiocy. Furthermore, I can find no way to specify in Preferences what fields should show in the bar on Music, so I can’t simply set it permanently to always show “Filter Field”.
Anyhow, it’s possible that it’s all there, I just can’t find it, but so far I really don’t like the Music app compared to iTunes. I thought it was supposed to be a leaner more focused app, instead it’s crude and basic.
Is my Music app behaving differently from yours? Maybe the playlists bug is due to my having migrated iTunes from High Sierra instead of establishing all my music files from scratch on Music? Anyhow, my music files are 1.82TB and the iTunes library over 3GB.
