I just wanted to see if there are any members who use the new iPad in their audio creation work flow and what apps they use. More specifically in using Spitfire VST or Kontakt. I'm new to the audio scene and have Logic Pro but not sure how the iPad works since the apps are downsized version of the pro apps. Also, I thought that one can download iPad apps on M1? It seems I cannot download, example Ravenscroft 275 which I purchased on the iPad, unless you shell out 200$ for the desktop version.

Curious to see how music production at pro level works. Apps like cubase, nuendo are pricey. But all the best VST are on desktop.
My main composition style is orchestra creation and movie scoring not hip beats or house music.

There isn't vst or Kontakt, or Spitfire for the iPad OS. Nor, will there likely be in the near future.

The only hope for these types of desktop apps would be a MacOS emulator, or hack, or if Apple actually ports Logic Pro to the iPad so you could use desktop AU. But this is unlikely.

Mind you, there are so many people here who are assuming Apple will port Pro desktops apps because of the M1. The key term is 'assume' (as it almost always is).

I find this a bit amusing, and am sort of looking forward to watching their hopes dashed; the whining and complaining, and the returns in outrage!

fun stuff. :D

But iOS has some sort of AU ability. I'm not sure about what you can use exactly. Look into it.

Get Logic Remote for your iPad from Apple (it’s free). Acts as an intelligent second screen for Logic / GarageBand on the Mac.

There is some brilliant music production software for iPad which offers a different approach and sometimes more fluidity than on desktop. Using both for their strengths makes for a great setup. Sketching on iPad and bringing across to Logic for finishing, or using some of the amazing synths and samplers as instruments sent digitally into Logic, or Logic remote (which is brilliant) or using the iPad as a midi controller. And more of course :)

I highly recommend visiting the Audiobus forum for all things iPad and music related. It's a godsend.

Also, the iPad isn't what you want for your intended use.

A Mac would be a much better fit for your use case.

Awesome - thanks for the advise - and yes I have some apps on my mac and realized I can do most of my music production but with the m1 on the ipad, just hope to see how these audio pro apps can transition over from the mac by devs in some capacity. I used sidecar with logic and some kontakt vst and was trying to touch screen the ipad screen thinking some of the toggles would work ha! lol..Will try the audiobus forum.
