Ok, this is for the PM in my sig. I have speakers plugged into the back of it, and that shuts off the internal PM speaker, thats fine. When I plug headphones into the front though, the speakers in the back keep going...is there any way to remedy this?

Do you mean the internal speakers, or the speakers you plugged in the back. I don't believe any computer that has head phone jacks on the front automatically turn off the speakers in back, you need to turn them down yourself using the knobs that are hopefully on the speakers themselves. As for laptops, they are the only ones I know that are built to turn off the main speakers when head phones are used.joecool85 said:

I would recommend bypassing the external speakers on the LCD and buying a good set of external speakers and hooking them up to the speaker port in the back of the PM. When you want to use headphones, you can hookup your headphones to the headphone jack on the speakers, OR hook up the headphones to the front of the PM and turn the speaker volume all the way down.
An even better option if you are into music production at all is a Firewire or USB based audio interface. Ideally it would have a couple mic inputs, two or more line inputs, line outputs (which you could send to your external speakers), and a headphone jack with separate headphone volume control. I happen to have just such an item (an M-Audio USB Duo) and it is wonderful. It sits right on top of my monitor and I can adjust the headphone volume easily without moving or using a mouse on the computer. I also keep my external speakers powered off most of the time unless I don't feel like using my headphones. I actually prefer the phones most of the time (I have the Sony MDR-7506s which I think are amongst the best headphones I have ever heard).

Yeah, both of those options are what I'm looking into now. My current setup is the 15" MAG LCD with speakers and a set of cyber acoustics with a sub...crappy crappy crappy. No headphone spot either. So I was planning on replacing them with something. I'll update everyone when I get around to doing anything. I just wanted to know if there was trick I didn't know about. Guess not. Thats ok though. btw, I have some "new and interesting things in my pipeline." lol. seriously though, I do.
