This has been happening for ages, and it's really starting to get me angry.

As someone who only has a 16 GB iPhone, I find myself frequently needing to delete things in order to make space for pictures and such. One solution is to delete my 1.2 GB music library every so often. This only deletes the local files, and keeps *most* of my songs in Music so I can stream them. However, multiple songs keep disappearing from both Music's list of songs I can stream, from iTunes on my iPhone under the Purchased (Not on this iPhone) tab, AND from my MacBook's iTunes library! If I search for the songs in iTunes it shows up as not being purchased, but when I click the price button it says "Item already purchased. You can download this item again for free" or something like that.

I'm not subscribed to Apple Music, as I know many people have been and had similar issues.

Any ideas on what I should do?

I suspect deleting local library in the manner you are is causing some conflicts.

Have you tried using the optimise storage option instead?

That option doesn't exist on my phone, and it never has... I'm assuming it's because your music library is much larger than mine, as I only have about 140 songs

Which iOS version are you using?

I think the "optimize storage" option for music is new to iOS 10. It sounds like you are posting an issue in the iOS 10 forum while you are not even using iOS 10.

No. in following beta, if you have not subscribed to Apple music or iTunes Match, you will not see "optimised storage" option. Mine is the case.

Of course I'm on iOS 10, I'm not that stupid... Not using iTunes Match or Apple Music, although I did turn on Home Sharing to try and resolve the issue a while ago, but it didn't work...
