Anyone notice that the images on the apple.com (http://www.apple.com/appletv/) have a music menu item on the home screen? I assumed that this would come with the new Oct 14th update, but - at least on my device - it didn't. Is there a setting I'm not activating or is this a subsequent release?

I'm waiting to have access to my music that is on the cloud on my apple tv - that may be wishful thinking but I'm hoping that is how it will work.

guess that makes sense, although I have not seen that elsewhere. Seems odd, though, that it would not be activated for items I already purchased on iTunes and are currently on the cloud, which are available regardless of the match service. That's the way it is working for movies/tv shows. Thanks for the info though - hope it's correct.

"iTunes and iTunes Match.

You can take it with you.
If you’re an iTunes Match subscriber, you can access your entire music collection from iCloud — including songs you’ve imported from CDs or bought somewhere other than iTunes — right from your Apple TV. Play them on Apple TV or any iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or computer for just $24.99 a year.

iTunes Match has an amazing scan-and-match feature — all the songs in your iTunes library are scanned and then matched with those available on the iTunes Store. Matched songs are instantly added to your iCloud library with no uploading needed. Any remaining songs are automatically uploaded from your computer to iCloud."

In order to stream music from Apple's servers you need iTunes Match. You can't stream iTunes purchases from Apple's servers without the Match feature enabled. You can only download them.
