Music OCR convert to MIDI file

Does anybody know of a free or cheap application that can OCR sheet music and save it as an MIDI file?

I had a similar question - and this thread is still one of the top results in google... so I thought I'd share what I found:

It looks like it should be able to do OCR scanning to midi playback and probably a bunch of other peripheral junk(that I'm sure may be useful to someone)

I use Photoscore Ultimate extensively, and I'm very happy with it. That's not cheap, but there is a lite version available with more basic features at a low price.
