I have an old white iPod color with most of if not all my music over the years on it. I know iTunes you can't, but is there a third party app where I can connect my iPod to the mac and save all the audio files from it to my computer?

@Ulenspiegel
Thanks a lot, I'll give it a try. After finally getting a person on the phone from Apple that knows what they're talking about. I come to find out that once you sync a device on a computer, you can't bring that device to another computer and sync it. This is because sharing music off someone's iPod or iPhone onto a non sync computer is considered copyright infringement which I can make some sense of, but its rather retarded.

When I tried offloading a friends music from his iPhone onto my computer, I kept getting the message that if I sync the device all existing media on phone excluding photo's and videos will be deleted.

I just need a 1 quick fix of dragging and dropping the music off his iPhone, back it up and restore the same music with some new stuff back on the iPhone. Apple labels me as the unclean by doing this, oh well.

I had different reasons searching for a simple, intuitive software.
To put it mildly, I am not a big fan of iTunes.
Now, all these problems gone. Connect, choose what you wnat to do and it is done.
I have my music on an external drive, on USB (for cars) and on my SanDisk MP3 Player. I stopped using iPods because of iTunes.
The SanDisk is much easier to handle and it delivers perfectly.

are you using windows, mac or linux on your computer, I know on linux you can simply plug the ipod in and the ipod shows up in the folders as a hardrive, you then can click on it and its contents would show up in the form of folders, you can then select the folder named itunes and copy and paste the songs onto a file on your computer. I would imagine that you could do the same on windows, not sure about mac.
