I've seen some other discussions else where but has anyone solved the great mystery of how the atv2 is 'seeing' music metadata?

Example: I went into my 'Classical' genre yesterday, and found among multiple 'genre' of Classical. One being ' Other Classical'. So I'm like WTH? And have a look inside it. Sure enough about 10 items. I then go to my iMac and call up those files in iTunes. Their genre is all labelled as Classical. Not Other Classical.
Like WTH?

To make matter worse, I then find those same songs listed with in Classical, with in yet another sub classical genre. Beats me where this is all coming from.

Any ideas people?

Wow...seem to have found a subject no one can speak of!

Further to this, I'm now finding that if you label one song as a different genre, that whole album appears in that genre, not just the song with the different genre. Most perplexing.

Yes, these are issues of the Apple TV 2 i have experienced your issues. They don't exist on the Apple TV 1.

Woud be nice if Apple would hurry up and release a fix for some of these very annoying bugs.

Whats happened to Apples Quality Control ? did hey even test this using at all ?

Ok...after much messing around....here's my findings for at least some.
When viewing songs via genre, ie classical, the order the atv2 presents them is:

Primary: Album Artist
Secondary: artist
Thirdly: composer

This is at least giving me a cleaner presentation on this genre. Ie: using Mozart, Beethoven or such in the album artist field.

Have yet to see if it messes up when viewed via the atv1.

That's what ive ended up doing also.

What sh#ts me is when a modern heavy band does a classical piece that isn't to bad, and you give it a genre of classical, their whole damn album avows up there.

I've found if I add a small appendage to there artists name it works. Haven't checked how this is going to screw up my album view!

I wish when I ripped the original CDs it filled them out right. Makes me think now checking iTunes purchases might be worth while now. :(

Don't worry about that it will eventually get fixed.

All yo can do for now if do what i have done and gone back to the ATV1

Havent checked it on my atv1s. Its fine there you say?? Which case yeah, c'mon the update!!! Having a mix of atv1 & 2 is actually painful right now.

Does anyone know, or if there are any developers out there who may know, does apple have available a list of how the appletv (1 or 2) prioritizes it's data fields in itunes for music.

Like I said, when going into genre/classical, I've figured out that artist album is the primary field, followed by artist then composer. ID love to know how the other various accesses are prioritized.

Obviously the first field is self explanatory,, but ID love to get a list of the others for each access point.
