Does anyone know if there is or if there will be an app that will recognize music similar to what Verizon offers? When I had my iPod Touch jailbroken, I seem to remember an app that did this, but of course I couldn't use it because it has no microphone.

Yep, Shazam is amazing for recorded music, and Midomi is good for identifying music that someone sings into the mic.

Both are really good for impressing non-iPhone people too.
