I like to listen to music in my car, connected to my car's stereo. It's connected through USB, and basically acts like a dock.
Sometimes though, I will skip a song and suddenly it will sound like radio static, and it sounds awful. I can try going back to the last song that played just fine, and it too will be nothing but static. All the sounds will be replaced by static, coming through my car's speakers.
I can skip all I want, unplug and plug my phone back in all I want and I can restart my stereo all I want, restart the music app all I want but the only way it will go back to normal is if I completely restart my phone, which is annoying to do while driving.
It's worth noting that this only happens when my phone is connected to my car's stereo, it never happens anywhere else. It also didn't happen before the iOS 9 upgrade. I'm not using the Apple Music music streaming service either; all music is on my phone, that I synchronized through iTunes. There's nothing wrong with the audio files. They play just fine everywhere.
I know it's an issue with the new iOS 9 update because it didn't happen before I upgraded, and other people are complaining of sound issues, but they aren't quite like mine. Perhaps there's some kind of incompatibility, between the phone and the stereo, which is a Pioneer stereo. I can get the model number if necessary. I couldn't tell you how often this problem appears. If I drive every day, it would probably happen at least every other day, but it's completely random when the static sounds happen.
If I were to switch to auxiliary or to the phone's speakers when the static sound issue occurs, the sound will be just fine. But when I go back to the stereo, it sounds awful again.
Again, we are connected through USB, not auxiliary or Bluetooth. I'd use auxiliary or Bluetooth to play music to avoid this issue, but for some reason it doesn't sound as good (aux) and it doesn't keep my phone charged, which is important because my phone's battery is not in the best shape. It's an iPhone 5, so I don't know how much longer I have with the battery.
