Music Volume with Bluetooth Headphones - Beta 2

I'm noticing that the volume of music seems to have been very much reduced when using the Music app with iOS 10 B2 and my Bluetooth wireless headphones.

On iOS 9 and iOS10 B1, I was used to having the volume set to around two-thirds for comfortable listening.

But with iOS10 B2 I need to have it set to max, and it's still not quite loud enough.

It affects my iPhone 6 Plus, but not my iPad Pro 12" (also on Beta 2) which is much louder, using the same headphones, for any given volume setting.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

I've noticed lower volume through the headphone jack and while using maps through the speaker

You notice a volume change from beta 1 to beta 2 probably because the EQ settings were broken in beta 1. Beta 1 it was stuck permanently on Flat setting I believe. Which is standard and louder than most settings. Beta 2 fixed the EQ settings and once again will use whatever you've set.

I've always had EQ turned off, but I just tried experimenting with it.

If I set it to 'Flat' it sounds exactly the same as 'Off'. Even if I repeatedly toggle between them there's no difference. If I set it to most other things, the volume drops a little. Curiously, if I set it to 'Loudness' the volume drops a lot!

At the moment I'm finding it's loudest with the EQ set to Off or Flat.

Maybe it's just an iPhone 6 Plus thing? Like I said, my iPad Pro is fine with the same headphones.

I'm having the same exact issue, I need to turn the volume to max to get normal volume I would usually get at 50-60%. I wasn't happy when, after connecting my headphones later in the day it actually played at full volume on start up, nearly blowing out my headphones (and eardrums).

I noticed this issue this morning at the beginning of my run. I had to restart the phone, in order for the sound level to go back to the proper level.

I've noticed the same thing. I also have a 6s Plus. I'm pretty sure I had the same issue with beta 1.

Just got back from a bike ride using my Powerbeats 2 and they were the save volume as on IOS9. No pausing or anything

Yep, same here - had this happen with both my bluetooth headphones on my runs this weekend as well as my car's stereo. Each time, I had to reboot the phone to get it back to the normal volume.

6S here using Jaybird X2. Same issues with the sound when playing music through the music app or Google Play Music. After turning the headphones off and closing the app, then turning everything back on, the sound works fine.

I have to do this every time I use them, which is usually 3 or 4 times a day.

Funny enough most people, including myself, found the volume to be higher on beta 1. Have not noticed a difference in beta 2. Sound is also more detailed. I don't use the EQ and have soundcheck on (it's been on long enough to have calibrated my library)

I've rebooted the phone several times since Beta 2 came out, but it didn't fix it. My phone's a 6 Plus btw, not a 6S Plus.

But when I was out walking today listening to music, I rebooted the phone, and this time it fixed it, and the volume was back to normal

So I'm wondering if there's something else affecting it - something that wasn't present when I was out walking - e.g.:

- Maybe it goes quiet only if the headphones also connect to another device? (They allow two concurrent Bluetooth connections)
- Maybe it only goes quiet in the headphones after I've used the phone to Bluetooth music to my car stereo?
- Maybe it only goes quiet after I've received a phone call?

etc. I'll do some more tests...

I think its an issue with my Momentums but my headphones sometimes use their own volume controls regardless of what is set on my iPhone or iPad. This started around 9.3.1 or 9.3.2. If I use the headphone volume controls, the sound returns to normal

I have the same problem with my Bose BT headphones. I have to re-pair them to fix the problem. My B&O earphones don't have the problem. It must depend on the Bluetooth version the headphones are using perhaps.

Ive always felt the Powerbeats2 wireless sounded lower than the Apple EarPods they give, and always wondered about this. even when i was in 9.0, weird...

Same problem with my JBL Charge 2+ BT speaker. Happens on both my iPhone 6s+ and iPad Pro 9.7. Repairing fixes it until the next time it connects, then it's back to the low volume. Bug was not present in Beta 1 for me.

I have the same issue with my Bose Soundsport Bluetooth earbuds, I usually unpair and repair to get the volume levels back to normal.

It's so vexing today. Sooo vexing. Stops playing. Volume super low. Totally irritating.

I found a quick solution, it seems that disconnecting from the bluetooth is the issue, If i disconnect by turning off the headphones, when I reconnect the volume is low! But if I disconnect through the bluetooth settings on the phone itself, I don't get the low volume issue when I reconnect the headphones by just turning them on!

I've only tried this with my Bose QC35's, so I am not sure if it will work for everyone!

Same here. Really low volume over BT headphones but it's most annoying for me because it's phone calls too. Was talking to someone last night and could barely hear them. Never a problem on iOS 9.

I have just found that turning on / off the EU volume limit toggle or adjusting the Max Volume slider is making no difference at all to the volume. Up or down

Today i restored back to iOS 9 because of the low volume with headphone (public beta 1 and 2)... If the rumours are true about no headphone jack and mainly relying on BT headphones then I really really hope this issues is fixed.

I see tonight that a new beta is out, anyone tried to see if this issues was fixed?

It seems to be better in beta 4 I noticed that the previous betas seemed to be quieter and just testing with Sennheiser Momentum 2 Wireless it started to uncomfortable above 75-80% on a couple to Apple Music tracks I picked at random.

I am sure when listening on previous betas I could get up to nearly max and not feel it was getting uncomfortable.

Yes - it seems to have been fixed in beta 4. Good news!
