Someone took exception to my ramblings in the Ventura for Unsupported Macs thread so I thought it would be a good idea to move this discussion to a new thread.
The one thing that concerns me about the current leadership at Apple is the AR/VR ski goggles thing. I simply do not see the use case for this yet so it seems to me to be an enormous distraction. Every successful product Apple has introduced has had an obvious use case. I think they can financially absorb the distraction but the amount of distraction by their management and board concerns me much more. macOS is in bad shape and that needs to be fixed asap.
The new Apple Silicon macs are quite interesting. I think Apple considers Blu-ray a dead end (if I recall correctly, I think Steve said that?) but Apple does support 4K and HDR both hardware and software wise. My first foray into AS was a 16" M1 Max MBP. I was quite impressed with the performance. I have since uograded to the M2 Max version, the quick upgrade is out of character for me. My first MBP was acquired in 2006. Then I upgraded to a rMBP in 2012 and then to the M1 Max MBP in 2021. I got a lot of mileage out of those Mac laptops and I still use the 2012 MBP. I also have a few iMacs, mac mini's and a Mac Pro. Most of them are still being used and OCLP has enabled them even more. I am looking forward to the new Mac Pro which I think will be announced at WWDC. Tim Cook did hear the concerns of users when Apple was thinking of killing the Mac Pro. I think they realized as their marquee computer it generates a gigantic amount of indirect sales revenue.I want to learn about and work with formats such as Blu-ray, 4K, HDR, etc that still seem to have limited support for on the Mac
