Must Have Accessories for MacBook Pro

As I (and a lot of you) anxiously await the delivery of the new MacBook Pro C2D, I ask you: What are the necessities for your new notebook?

I already ordered a spare power adapter. One for my bag and one for home = never forgetting it.

I also got a new Waterfield sleeve for it. I have one that I bought over 5 years ago for an iBook and it still looks absolutely perfect - and believe me, this thing has been through hell.

What other must-haves do you guys get with your new notebooks?
 
I would LOVE to hear some good recommendations on Backpacks for the MacBook Pros.

Also please say specifically whether you are speaking for a 15.4" or a 17"

Also would love to hear opinions on a good Bluetooth Mouse.
 
I would love to hear recommendations for a mouse also - Bluetooth or wireless.. or whatever works best with the MBP. ;)

i have an incase sleeve (the ones Apple sells in their retail stores) and it works great with the backpack i already have.

i also use a radtech screensavr - cheap and good to protect the screen and also serves as a cleaning cloth.

i haven't had much luck with bluetooth mice (so i'm currently using a wireless with a dongle - Logitech LX7), but i hear the BT MM is good (there are likely dozens of threads on this... search the forums). a lot of people also like Logitech's V270 but i don't think that has enough functionality (not enough buttons).
 
For you people who were wondering about a mouse, I don't know how you feel about an Apple Mighty Mouse, but I absolutely love mine. It is bluetooth so you don't have to worry about wires or anything. I use it for more then a few hours a day and I have been for the past three-four months and I have yet had to replace the batteries in it. It is very conveniant for me.

I have had bad luck with the Mighty Mouse on a somewhat personal level. Whenever I work on one of my customer's machines who use one my hand gets very cramped. In fact, after one long session on a MM, my hand was in pain for a few days afterwards! I'm afraid that the mouse is the one area the Apple has not done a good job in when it comes to design. Remember the original iMac hockey puck mice? Yuk!

I have been using a Wenger Swiss Gear backpack with my 12" PowerBook. I tested it today with a customer's 15" MacBook Pro and it just fits! Of course, my bag is completely full and weighs about 35 pounds. The thing is great if you have a lot of stuff you need to carry around.

Oh wow! That is definitely a good reason to not have one. I have yet to have that problem with mine so I guess it all depends on the user. :)
 
i got a Crumpler Base Toucher bag for mine, its great!

gonna get a bluetooth Might Mouse and Keyboard for my desk and either an iCurve or other brand with fans
 
I'm looking for a good leather case or nice backpack to hold my 17" MBP. But I can't find anything that looks decent, any suggestions?
 
I'm looking for a case or something with enough space for a 15"MBP, Edirol FA101 Soundinterface and an external HD (Western Digital Dual Option Combo 320GB, USB 2.0/Firewire (WDXB3200JB)).
But I think I have to wait till delivery and take everything to a local shop an look what fits.

i have a Crumpler and its great, they are very tough bags.

I would suggest you buy something that doesn't make it obvious you are carrying a laptop.

Coach makes some nice leather bags. depends how much you want to spend, though. and they're obviously not designed just for Macs. similarly, Fossil has some good alternatives to Coach when it comes to leatherware.

I have a 17inch MBP on order and wanted a simple bag for transit to and from work, I bought the Waterfield Sleeve with shoulder strap and the extra pouch. The pouch has enough room for my Bluetooth Mouse, Maxtor External HD and accompanying cables as well as a slot on the back of the sleave for my organizer thing I carry around when visiting clients/work sites.

Eventually I am going to nab a Cargo Bag as well for plane trips/long distance travel. I have received the Sleave/shoulderstrap/pouch in the mail already and am EXTREMELY impressed with the craftsmanship.

A great choice, if I had my MBP here i'd take some pictures with it all loaded up, but im waitin on the 17s to ship out, another week it seems :(.
 
I think I might go with a Crumpler backpack because it will carry my books and my laptop.. It also helps that thier stuff doesn't look to girly or plain ugly.

My only concern is how much abuse can the backpack protect my laptop from? The model I'm looking at is the The Customary Barge.

what about cleaning accessories? i'm hearing wonders about iklear... I don't want my keys, or palm rests to gt oil stains on them... any one have any good suggestions?
 
Is there a general consensus that an external monitor is not necessary for general use?

iCurve stand looks cool. External (back-up) hard drive of course. Some mobile speakers and some speakers for for home maybe or Airport Express if you already have a good HiFi set.
 
Get the Brenthaven backpack. I've got one for my 17 " MBP, I can fit the MBP, all the power cords, a 300 GB Seagate External Harddrive, and misc stuff in one compartment. Then I can fit all my iPod stuff in the final one. This backpack is great, it's amazing that it seems smaller than the Dell XPS I have through work. The backpack after a year only is starting to fall apart in certain spots. But for the money the Brenthaven is the best backpack out there!!!
