must have apps for travel?

going to be traveling a lot with my new job, what apps for flying, checking on flights, weather, etc etc?

Well it depends what you're looking for. Some airlines have their own apps that you can check out. You could also type in the zip code/city into the stock weather app.

I like looking at flightAware (the website) to check flights and stuff. I wish they made an app for that.

I know you may not be looking for this type of answer, or maybe you already have one... But I'd recommend a good camera application. Perhaps something like Camera+. The only reason why I'm recommending this is because you're traveling, and that's a great opportunity to snap up some fantastic pictures. The application is one of the best, if not the best at it's editing features.

hmm i don't have a 4 so i don't think a camera app will matter, when the new iphone comes out i'm going to get that so hopefully the camera will be better

Hmm...The Weather Channel/Weatherbug are my fav weather apps although there are several hundred different weather apps in the store. As some previous posters said, most airlines, and even some hotel chains, have their own apps so you should download whichever one you are most likely to frequent on your travels. I'm partial to the Orbitz app since I use that a lot for booking hotels/flights, etc. There is also a USA Today app (can't remember the exact name of it) but it functioned as your personal travel "assistant" and would keep you updated on flight delays and such. All these are free apps so you can try them out and see if they work for you.

FlightTrack app is good for tracking flights.

I find our amex private corporate travel office is worth their weight in gold. If i didnt have them i might look at a gold card with travel services. If you travel a lot you really need someone in the travel industry on your side to deal with problems. There just isnt an app anywhere that can do what a travel office can do.

Hipmunk was cute, tried it. But logging into the airlines actual airline sites with accounts with them is much more flexible. Usually quicker in updating changed gates or flights too, i always hit those up looking for gate changes between flights.

Prefer tomtom gps for nav in places i don't know. Have more than one loaded though, navfree isn't a bad backup to have.

Check into wifi finder and free wifi apps to find hotspots.

For freebies, TripTracker, TripIt, and TripCase all work well for me (probably in order of preference). Great way to keep track of flights and hotels.

Kayak is a good travel app, they have a kayak pro for 0.99(I think), that does more I suppose. Kayak works good enough for me.
