I thought it might be a good idea to jot down some applications and utilities that you find very useful in your day to day usage on a PC (non-mac). There's of course the major apps, like office, or photoshop, but i mean the handly little ones that make life a little easier as you use your machine.

I'll start the list with a handful, I made this a wiki so feel free to add your own.

7zip - compression utility.
Beyond Compare - robust comparison utility
Brightness Controller - handy app for running an apple cinema display.
iObit uninstaller
PhraseExpander - text replacement software.
snagit - screen shot utility
sysinternals - collection of handy utilities from MS
ThrottleStop - undervolting your CPU
TPFan control - fan control
UltraEdit - text editor.
Total Commander - dual panel file manager
Notepad++ - best free text editor (GPL)

MalwareBytes for Mac: The go-to for removing malware infections/unwanted browser extensions.
AppCleaner: Uninstall applications and their associated files
OmniDiskSweeper: See what's taking up space on your disk

But I would suggest removing malwarebytes and similar sotfware, because those tend to be as much of a malware as the things you're afraid of :p

MalwareBytes is most definitely not malware. :)

Stuff like CleanMyMac I'd argue are not necessary. But OmniDisk is great and AppCleaner is good for what it does, though it's not mandatory to use for removing an app. It's just when you're trying to get rid of pesky plist files which have registration details on.

Those are nice, and maybe I wasn't being too clear, but these are for windows/PCs and not for the Mac.

btw, I'm a big fan of OmniDiskSweeper, but it mac only

I use du (part of sysinternals), but is there an app more like OmniDiskSpace? That's one app I do miss since moving on to windows.
