...or something like that. I've gotten this message at least three times since receiving my iPad in April which isn't TOO bad. Usually I just restore, but this morning it happened again... so I restored, same message, and I am doing yet another restore. We'll see what happens after that.

I haven't seen any other posts like this, and I'm beginning to wonder if I need to take it into the Apple store for a return. But two things concern me: 1 - Losing everything I have on the iPad; 2 - No 3G 64GB in stock for replacements.

Legitimate concerns... or is the above just a standard problem we have to live with?

Check in iTunes to see if you have a recent backup of your iPad. (Edit menu > Preferences > Device tab) If you do, you can restore from that backup when you get your replacemnt.

And you don't have to worry about them not having iPads in stock for replacement, they keep a separate stock of replacement iPads that come in white boxes instead of the regular packaging especially for this purpose.

Just call customer support or go through the online support pages to make a Genius appointment. You need to make an appointment before you go, they generally don't take walk-ins.

Thanks, great advice. On the phone with Apple Care now. Looks like they can overnight one to me, but have to put a hold of the full price on my card until I get the device back to them. Reasonable... they don't want to lose a device, so I understand that. But the FULL price on this baby was almost $900!

The rep is trying to locate a store in the area that might have one in stock for exchange now...

Ended up going to the Fair Oaks Mall Apple Store for a replacement and it works like a charm. Had to make a Genius appointment for late in the day but at least they fit me in. I should mention the first model she brought out had a 1/2 inch bright blotch under the screen that was very eye-catching and distracting. They were more than happy to replace that immediately noting it would be distracting to them as well. The second one she brought out was just perfect!

GREAT! :D

Glad to hear it worked out, good luck with your new replacement!
