Must share my new i7 excitement!

I am blown away by this machine. Incredibly fast. This is my first new Mac since I bought the first generation 17" Intel Core Duo iMac back in February 2006. Since January I've been using an 800Mhz 15" iMac G4 eekdue to the cost of my move from Kansas City.

First thing I have to do now is upgrade the RAM and wait for my 1TB external to come in. Trackpad was backordered but is on the way! I also got the battery charger and the remote. I was a bit nervous at first, and it was a battle between this and the MBP i7, but I knew I would rarely take it anywhere. I definitely made the right decision. Aperture boots up in literally 1.5 seconds, Logic/CS5 instantly... Quite the change. I've been running the hell out of it with zero lag and it's been SILENT. Can't wait to play games.

There are no issues with it- The panel is gorgeous and is quite a lot to take in. One thing that increase boot speed though was to go and clarify what drive to boot from. Huge speed increase. It really feels nice to use my own computer for all my music/design/photography work now. Feels a lot faster than even the Mac Pro's at school. If you have the extra $200, the i7 is a must. Hands Down.

For the first time since the G5, the iMac is a formidable contender in desktops, as far as performance goes. For so many years, it has used notebook processors, restricted by its thermal envelope.

Now... it's back with a vengeance.

Of course it's faster than the Mac Pros at school, it's an i7! I don't know how it's even possible that Apple can offer the power of a Mac Pro in the beautiful form factor for less than the cost of any such computer available. Oh wait, there aren't any! Hahahaha!

People want to ***** about the cost of Macs. Take a look! You get super-computer power with one of the most fantastic displays one can afford in the form of something smaller and less cumbersome than most displays alone! Suck it, fanboys.

Oh and... yeh again I'm so jelluz! Some day if I settle down somewhere, I just may get one *sigh* By then, computers will be cranially implanted, though 8\

I completely agree.. And if you want one brand new, you don't have to do much. Put about $70 into a savings account each week, and bingo bango you've got yourself a new 27" i7 iMac at the next refresh

Haha- The G4's are probably the coolest looking things out there. Not sure what to do with the little guy yet.

Very nice...

Wait until you watch your first movie on that thing or play your first game.

I ran X-Plane on it and it was the closest thing to flying outside of a real plane.

Yes, I actually really like it. Even though I've used photoshop a lot before, it's really useful to just start from the beginning, whether it is a refresh or you're new. It has a disc that gives you pictures for the lessons, so you know exactly what they're talking about, etc. It was worth the ~$50.

I went ahead and took it up to my dad's so he could use it. I got him a Mac Mini, but he's going to be able to just use the iMac in his bedroom in case he ever wants to get away from the wife!

And my Magic Trackpad just shipped this morning. So excited!

First off, congrats man! I share your excitement, because I sure as hell know the feeling.

Secondly, take really good care of that beast. In a couple years when you want to upgrade, you'll be able to sell it for half of what you sunk into it.

And I'm also guessing you're happy to move away from Kansas. Texas is an improvement, IMO.

It was a sad day when that smell finally wore off my Macbook after a year. No longer could I place my nostril over the keyboard and inhale a magnificent industrial plasticky/metally smell of bliss.

The adobe "classroom in a book" series have been around forever and are very good way to get learning. Good for reference when you can't figure something out too.
