Finally I have arrived.....
I am very new to the web design and creation. I am learning Dreamweaver and CSS at the same time to better understand the web design.

I heard there is an open source program OS Commerce for web merchants. I am interested in learning that program. Since I am already in the middle of my learning Dreamweaver, I would like to know if those two programs can work hand-in-hand together. My guess is Dreamweaver is more toward web design while OS Commerce is for setting up the web merchant interface with customers (updating the products for the site, accepting the orders and payments, and etc).

Appreciate comments and feedback on the difference on those two programs (or similarities).

You cant compare those two, os commerse is not a program, it is a web shop and web interface.
You cant do anything else with it.

With Dreamweaver you design homepages.

OS Commerce

I use both on a daily basis. the above poster is mostly correct. OS Commerce is a open source "Web Application" written in PHP/ MySQL
You can read all about it here.

The forums are very helpful, especially in trouble shooting problems. They also have a knowledge base that will help you learn the program, but the best way is to install it, build a store, etc....
Beware of using Dreamweaver on PHP pages. You can save yourself alot of grief by using a good text editor instead.
Good luck, :)
