MX610 vs. MX1000

I need some help deciding whether to get an MX1000 or the MX610. I know that I would probably like the MX1000, but I'm thinking that the MX610 might be better. Unfortunately, I have yet to see one.
It would be nice if the few lucky ones that already got a hold of it could answer some of my questions: Is it less bulky than the MX1000? How does it have 10 buttons (Isn't it just the same as the MX1000 - back, forward, left, right, middle, scroll up (vol up), scroll down (vol down), scroll left, scroll right and application switcher (mute)?) Does the mouse turn off when the computer goes to sleep (even on a Mac?). And, my last question which I doubt anyone can answer yet, is the battery life really that much better?

If you have a desktop, I would definately go with the MX1000. If you have a notebook, and bluetooth, I'd look for a bluetooth mouse (microsoft makes mine, i love it and hopefully all the buttons will work w/ usb overdrive for bluetooth). if you have a notebook but without bluetooth, I would definately go for this MX610 or even the VX500 which has a slot in the mouse for the USB transmitter. you are correct about the ten buttons--the scrollwheel alone accounts for five of the buttons....i think it's misrepresented because in my experience I only need the scroll wheel for two of its five functions. the battery life should be as good as they say, no better and no worse. the mouse itself looks pretty cool, with the lights and all. might be annoying to some though, especially if you want to watch a movie on your computer or if you want to go to sleep but keep your computer turned on.

The mouse will be a replacement for the MX900, which I think is a POS (way too stuttery and stubborn). It's not gonna be a laptop mouse, I got a Mighty Mouse for that.
The lights are not gonna work on the Mac anyway - which as fact that I like a lot (there is no driver).

I use the MX1000 and I love it. Very smooth, very reliable, and extremely good battery life. It is one of the most accurate mice I've ever used and I haven't had a single problem with it.
