Downloaded Outside Magazine for the iPad. Everytime I launch it, it crashes back to the home screen. Here comes the yet troubleshooting of another device.

If it crashes every single time you open it, chances are its an issue with the app itself and not the iPad.
.I would agree, just the fact that its not a free app and it was "designed" for the iPad. So I guess 2.99 was too much.
Contact the developers and see what sup. You have to remember, most developers had no access to the real iPads. Simulators don't always work well for programmers. If the dev doesn't respond, get a refund through iTunes.

Programming for a device that you've never had access to is pretty tricky.
I would expect to be a beta tester for the next few weeks until the development shops get their hands on actual devices.
