Unbelievable! I ordered it Sunday night online. It's a BTO unit and I bought a Cannon printer along with it for the $100 rebate.

The printer shipped from PA (I live in PA) and should be here this afternoon. The computer shipped Tuesday morning from China and was delivered this morning early AM! That's crazy... A BTO iMac from China in 2.5 days! It beat the printer to the door! Given the time of year it is, I wasn't expecting it until after Christmas. I have some things I wanted to finish around the house before I plant myself in front of my first Mac. I'm really not ready for it yet! Oh well, let the fun begin.

So hopefully, in the next couple days I can add my name to the list of iMacs received with no issues. Fingers crossed!

don't start looking for problems, just sit back and enjoy your new toy!!! have fun dont have worries:D

Yeah, I'm not exactly looking for problems or perfection really. If there is a problem, it will be obvious.

I say that about the iMac, however I'm sure I will be a problem! I'm not exactly a computer expert so a new machine, with a new OS (to me) and a new all-in-one printer, etc... will likely make for a nerve racking learning curve! :D

Don't worry...you have this great forum for help.

I suggest you go here to get started, though even if you don't you will still be fine. Enjoy!

Everything worked great last night. Screen is awesome with no gradient. I was able to check out a few things in the little time I had. Got online, transferred some pics into iPhoto and watched a few minutes of a DVD.

The one thing that was immediately noticable was that web surfing is much slower (proabably 3x slower) than my old boat anchor. I have a 7-8yr old Pentium III laptop w/ 256M of RAM. This 2.8G w/ 1G of RAM is much slower when surfing. Any idea why that would be? Is Safari much slower than Firefox? I wouldn't think so. Soon, I will be doing some side by side comparisons between the 2 computers. Maybe last night was just a slow night for surfing on my DSL connection but I wouldn't think so. Any suggestions on things to check? Remember I'm new to the Apple OS!

Thanks

Exactly! It's a fantastic machine, especially for the price. IMO, the best comp I've ever owned, and I've owned quite a few in my day, LOL.

Congrats.... enjoy it!

It might have just been the server...my iMac is neither slower nor faster than any of the PCs I have in my house. But my internet browser, Safari, loads up way faster than any other browser I've ever seen.

Congrats!

You have good taste in your computer and printer......just because you got the same setup as mine :D

How does this work?

Yes, please elaborate if you would! I have no idea what any of that means, where I would access it or what affects other than quicker internet that it might have on the system. Seems strange that it would not ship with that configuration if the only affect is faster surfing.

I did use an internet site to test my upload and download speeds and everything seems fine so I'm not sure why it seems slower when opening pages while surfing.

I never got the hang of using Safari. It always felt slow and bloated, but perhaps that is just because it (at least on my mac) tries to load a page fully before displaying anything. It also seems to hang on most websites at around the 80% loaded mark for a few seconds. Firefox is much faster and smoother, although Safari seems generally more compliant (I am forced to use it on some sites that don't handle Firefox well).

Give Firefox or Camino a try and see if it doesn't speed up for you.
