Hey guys

I have done some searching with various but not clear answers if a macbook is running hot or not?

So I have 2015 Macbook Retina with 2.8 Ghz I7, running with 16gb of RM with Intel Iris Pro 1536 Graphics

and I have several app showing my fan usage or not, I am currently running Intel Power Gadget and its showing me temps of 68 - 71 C right now. I have been having trouble keeping those temps down and I am wondering if this is normal? I always constantly hear the etc... I did replace the thermal paste on the CPU's a month ago with some Artic MX4 Thermal paste, to see if that would fix the issue but it seems not, and now I am questioning if I applied it correctly or not. But the thing is I was having issues with the heat and etc before too.... Im a DJ so when I am running my dj software this thing spikes up to 86-94 C and cause issues audio skip orto stop when the CPU get's too hot

Any help or advice thanks

The last graph shows that something is running on the machine, that's why it's getting warm. Were you using it at that moment? Or was it supposed to be idling?

Advice? Stop looking for problems. If the machine were too hot it would take care of itself even to the point of shutting down.

on the land line mr. smith.
Open activity monitor and see what's using the most CPU.
[doublepost=1548725273][/doublepost]IMHO Apple does not ramp fans up fast enough, which keeps machines quiet, but warmer. If you want fans to spin up sooner, and keep things cooler, check out Macs Fan Control. They even have a Win version that runs nicely in Boot Camp.

I had my dj software opened up and I was browsing on the computer, I have attached my activity monitor and screenshot of the intel gadget

Nothing too out of the ordinary. In AM, you might try clicking on View and then select All Processes to be sure see everything running, including system stuff via root, etc.

If the issue only happens with the DJ software, it could be something going on with it. Outside of cranking up fans to help with cooling, and verifying nothing else is chewing up CPU cycles, hard to solve outside of a software update.

Have you looked to see if other users of this software are having any heat/CPU spikes?

Oh, and Macs Fan Control shows all the temp sensor readings, so might give some clues as to specifically what it getting hot, plus exact fan RPMs....perhaps one is failing?

When I upload my music to my Google account on my MBP 2015, temps can and do spike above 100°C. Best solution is to use MacsFanControl, iStat or whatever other utility you prefer to have a more aggressive cooling response to temperature rises. Apple prefers a quieter "user experience" and sets its firmware accordingly, which in the past has led to Logic Board issues.
