My 27" iMac i5 is louder than yours.

I'm running the audio via a fiber optic cable into a Yamaha Dolby Digital / DTS receiver, output to Advent mains, surround, and center speakers with a Yamaha 8" powered sub. I should add that those wall speaker are about 20 years old. I might upgrade them eventually, but I figure they can go another 20 years easy.

My only question is if/when iTunes will support 5 channel discreet audio sources.

Not sure what that means, but I'm plugging in a 400RMS Logitech speaker setup when the i7 arrives

If some of you did not know, the iMac has an optical audio out buried in the headphone port. And if you have not experienced the difference between analog audio and what this beast is REALLY capable of, you are really missing something dramatic. Great video quality must be paired with equally great audio quality.

Perhaps, one day, I'll upgrade to some Klipsch towers. Yesss.....

Well the speakers were Custom built for me with (Usher Audio Drivers) by a very nice 2 channel audio shop where I live. And they are powered be a 200watt .002thd ROTEL 2 channel amp. they sound FANTASTIC!!! much better than the room i put them in. and it is hooked up through the Fiber optic audio out.

Mine is 500w but that equates to about 100w/channel. I think we may be about even.

So here's a problem: I get discreet 5.1 output on DVD sources, all applications, including Front Row. I get discreet 5.1 output on iTunes for downloaded sources. I do NOT get discreet 5.1 output for downloaded sources played through Front Row. Apparently, Quicktime is used for Front Row playback and Quicktime does not support 5.1 output. All the sources I have found online suggest remedies but none seem to work for me.

The ONLY TIME this matters is playing a downloaded movie with 5.1 audio on Front Row so I can use my Apple remote to navigate my media.

When is Apple going to get Quicktime up to current audio standards?

Two drywall anchors for each supporting bracket. Trust me, I know how to hang a shelf.

Anyone have an answer on the Quicktime and 5.1 output limitation?

Right now I'm watching Blade Runner: The Final Cut (with the 5.1 remastered soundtrack) and, let me say, this screen is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Okay, back to the movie.

Ya you might think yours is loud. But mine is louder and I am sure some one will be louder than mine. I only have a 20 inch imac so you got me beat there. I do like the enterprise model.
