On previous iPhones I seem to remember my phone waking up and the screen being on whenever my alarm went off. Now my phone is asleep and I have to press the home button in order to wake it up and cancel/snooze the alarm. Is this normal behaviour? I can't see any settings that suggest different options.

Nope, not normal behavior. Or at least on my phone the screen lights up as the alarm starts, and the screen only goes dark if I let the alarm ring for a while, in which case I would need to wake the phone up to cancel/snooze it.

Can't really say what would cause that kind of behavior or what could fix it, aside from hard resets and such you have no doubt already tried?

Yeah, I thought as much. Thanks.
I have done three clean installs (for other reasons) and am not running a backup. Very strange.

I'm running 9.0.2, same issue for me. It's a bug, many others reported it as well. Hopefully 9.1 fixes it.

It still happens on 9.1 beta 5 intermittently. I haven't figured out what is causing it but I've reported it multiple times to Apple.

I'm having the same issue, although I didn't realise it was an issue till just now.

iPhone 6s on 9.0.2.

Its really frustrating as I'll end up pressing the home button to turn the screen on and it inevitably unlocks the phone, disabling the alarm. I need my Snooze!

So they didn't fix it in the public release still... It just happened again to me this morning on the public release.
