My parents bought my apartment here in Greece in 1984, for 4,000,000 drachmas (10,000 euros). It came painted, with tiles on sections of the wall, and marble floors, since marble is easily available here in Greece. Ive been living here since 2006, and I started renovating the house the past year and a half. Since Im not a millionaire, Im doing it slow.
This is pretty much what the living room looked like in 2006, except their was a 19" tube TV where the TV on the wall is now. The TV on the wall has been replaced as well (42" standard LD HD TV to a 40" Samsung LED):
The fireplace is fake, well, it use to work before 1995, which was when we had a major earthquake here, but its been fake ever since. I decided it was a waste of space, so I knocked it down:
I ended up switching couches, bringing in a larger one I had from my house in the States. I painted the wall, keeping the TV where it was because its on an automated wall mount, moved the shelves around a little bit, and made a picture. I wouldnt mind some opinions on the picture (size or a different picture in general). I know the picture is small, and maybe the same thing, just a bit larger would work well, with a thicker/wider frame as well. Im also going to switch out the round glass table for something else I have, which is a rectangle glass piece, with legs similar to the body of the couch. I have a matching coffee table I guess you can call it, so Im going to put that next to the couch, where the magazines are now.
I did my bedroom as well, going from this:
to this:
My next steps will be:
the bathroom (which have some nasty green taste all over). Im getting rid of the tub, and getting a walk in shower, which will allow me to move the washing machine to the corner, giving me more room. Im getting new cabinets and a sink, kinda like the deep square sinks they have at Ikea, with lots of smoked glass. And of course I will be getting rid of the tiles on the wall and ceiling, and getting something more "now" on the walls:
and the kitchen:
The kitchen is going to be easier. Im going to keep the cabinets, and probably just replace the doors, and Im going to get two pieces of granite tops, with a new stainless steel sink. Not much needs to be done there.
My house is pretty much wire free, to the best of my abilities. I hate seeing wires, so everything is hidden. Im still getting into setting up some things, like all my products talking to each other, so if anyone wants to chat with me some time, Id GREATLY appreciate it.
I just wanted to get some thoughts on my place, and maybe some opinions, critique, whatever. I really enjoy getting into the interior design of my place, and Im always willing to listen. Thanks for stopping by, next Ill show you our house that we COMPLETELY rebuilt in the village where my parents live.
