Hello All,

A Few weeks ago, I registered a puzzle game which was my first artwork  .
That is Make Num.

How to play is below,

Simply make the total to the target number which will be shown on top of the screen, then you will get scores. Try to use as much cell as possible with bigger number for better score, but also you get various items if you can finish quick!

Including me, some people who are almost Korean like and enjoy this game.
But it did not win popularity yet.

I thought why and my conclusion is as below,

- because the name was not attractive and not intuitive to people (including US). I think "Make Sum" is better than "Make Num".

- because the description (even if my colleagues reviewed it) failed to successfully describe its fun (if exists :) ).
(as you see, my English is not good he he he.)

Could you give me ur opinion on the name and the description or any other feedback?

It's hard to give a description or better name without playing, but maybe something like Number Bubbles, Sum of all Blocks, or Number Trouble. I don't know, just a few things that popped in my head from looking at it in the store.

Let me know, your e-mail account.

It would be my pleasure. :)

And names you mentioned are more appropriate to the game. Especially, Number Bubbles is good.

I have a plan to make another version of it (not mean updating). I'll consider the name!!

Thank you.

I think the graphics in your game look nice--very colorful. I don't usually play this kind of game, but I can see where others might like it.

I think that what you are saying is accurate--you may want to change the name of the app to make it more appealing to people in the US. The description is also kind of confusing. I went to your web page and read the instructions, and I think I understand how to play now. I did not understand it from the description on the app store page. As you said, English is your second language.

Anyway, since you asked, I have a few suggestions for you to think about.

*************************************

New name for app: Math Whiz

Application Description:

Put that calculator away, and put on your thinking cap!
Time to get back to basics and have "sum" fun with Math Whiz!
You can compete with other brainiacs from all over the world!

HOW TO PLAY:
Use as many numbered cells as possible to achieve the sum indicated at the top of the screen for each level. The more cells you use, the higher your score.
But don't be slow--you only have 90 seconds to complete the "quiz!" Speed is rewarded with special bonuses (additional time on the clock, bonus multipliers, etc.)
Develop your own strategy based on your math skills and speed to achieve the highest score!

******************************************

Anyway, that's the best I can do. I think the new description would be easier for English-speaking people to understand, and more appealing.
I sure wish I had the computer knowledge to develop apps, since I think it would be fun. Maybe I can just write descriptions for other people! :D
Good luck!

How about "Sum It Up" or "Sum It". Whatever you end up naming it, it does sound like fun.

:)

A bit late to the discussion, but I would definitely agree that picking a good, catchy name goes a very long way to catch people's eye when browsing through the app store, especially with just how massive a number of apps there are now. As part of my work for our podcast I read through all of the new apps each day on App Sniper and/or Appshopper, and an app having a catchy name but descriptive name goes a long way toward my making note of it to check the description on and investigate further.

gekotta's description looks good as well- while I'm generally not too put off by a slightly awkward description of an app as I appreciate that many developers are releasing their apps internationally (and I really enjoy the variety and freshness many of these apps bring), I think it does make a much better first impression to have a good, tightly worded (but entertaining, as in this case) description.

i agree the app name is bad. 'make sum' and 'make num' sound like high school programming assignments.

I like Sum It Up the best of all the suggestions so far.
Great name--wish I would have thought of it! :)

One more suggestion... when I tried to download the app, I saw that it is not compatible with Ipod Touch 1st Generation. :(
A lot of us only have the 1st Gen. -- unless the app requires the microphone to be used, you can easily also make it compatible with the 1st Gen. Otherwise, you will have fewer potential customers!

I've changed the meta-data of the game for 1st generation to use it.

I've changed the meta-data of the game for 1st generation to use it.
But the meta data in app store is not updated yet.

So, I'll ask Apple on the issue.

I guess,
Since if the device information is changed, iPhone Developer Program team tests it again. So it takes time.

Anyway when I submit the next version to the app store, I'll enable users of the 1st gen. to use it.

As I posted, I've changed the tile shown on App Store from "Make Num" to "Make Num (Sum It Up).

Please check your message box.

I'd like to put your name into the special thanks list. So I need your name and address. :)
