before their was compusa and best buy and the apple retail stores i bought my LC from BC communications in Huntington NY. I have no idea if its still around or not. But in the front they had macs and then in the back was a huge gun store with rifles hand guns etc. Then to top it off they had these two huge dogs running around the store. I think they were German Shepherds or something. Now that was an experience. I must have been a front for something but it was the only apple reseller on Long Island at the time.

Thats neat. i haven't seen an Apple Mall store with the pillars by the entrance door with an Apple logo on either side. The ones in my area only have one.

Yea, this apple store used to be in like a 40'x10' room while they remodeled and It just reopened a few months ago so it's relatively new.

Far away from Earth.
I've never been to an Apple shop, but I think they look weird. They remind me of an Art Exhibition or something. These Apple stores don't even make me think its a shop.

My local Apple store looks like jordanonmyfeet's. I feel kind of weird in there because the lights seem really harsh and there's no real "counter" or "front desk" like in a normal store.

This may be somewhat off topic, but how does one go about opening up an apple store? Currently the closest one in Kentucky is either in Louisville or Cincinnati. I think it would be cool to have one in Lexington myself. Anyone have any info?

hahah yea you either pay at the genius bar which is rare or your just pay anywhere with they're wireless units. I guess it pretty cool though and speeds things up. Apple store has the biggest Associate:Customer ratio than I have seen with any other store.

The first time I saw one I thought the same. It's probably done on purpose, remember everything about Apple "design". I'm sure their products to them are more like artwork than just products. Oddly, none of the Apple stores near me are ever as empty as the ones in the above photos. They are usually packed from open to close.
