I called today to make sure I could get one tomorrow and the guy told me they had all the 24" inch models available. I said "MODELS?-meaning the $1799 and $2199", he said "yup, hold I'll while I ask my manager".

Bottom line they had no 24" iMacs in stock. He told me to call tomorrow and had no idea when new stock would come.

Does anyone know how Apple restocks their stores? Is it daily? Another guy I asked at the same store on a subsequent call told me that they would probably come in tomorrow and that I should call at opening in the morning. Then he tells me that they got one shipment when they were released and just sold out today. Why would more come in tomorrow?

I am a little disappointed that I finally was ready to pull the trigger on the $1799 24 inch and it is out of stock.

My only local apple store (in Lyndhurst, OH) is all out of 20" and 24". They were closed for renovation until Saturday, and all of their inventory sold out that day. They had no idea when they would be back in stock.

I feel your pain!

To make matter worse I was on vacation in San Diego and LA the last 4 days and visited 2 different Apple stores to see the new iMac. I am sure one of them had a 24" in stock but I didn't want to tote it around California in and out of hotels for 4 days.

I tried both NYC stores on Thursday and Friday. Both were out and said "try again tomorrow." I'm not one to keep calling and hearing "no" so I ordered online.

My fear is that if I order online I will be templed to order the 2.8 model. If I walk in the store I am forced to go with the 2.4 which is probably more than I need anyway.

An ex-Apple store employee told me to check tomorrow afternoon--a week after the first shipment. I'm not convinced they'll actually get any, but hey, there's hope.

same exact happened to me

i;ve been calling my apple store since tuesday concerning the stock of the 2.4 24 inch, and they keep saying call back tomorrow, but they never had them in stock, so i am going this morning and getting a 20 inch, but with the leftover money that i would be spending on the 24, i will get apple care and 4 gigs of ram from OWC........the only model that my store has is the 20 inch 2.4

Well after ordering it online yesterday my local store got it in today. I just got home with my 24" and canceled my online order.
