I ordered an apple TV from Apple and since the 29th at 3 am it hasn't moved from Santa Pablo, CA. It's coming all the way to NY. is this normal??

Wait until you order a BTO mac and it comes from China.

So your package is with the shipper (FedEx or UPS presumably)?

Sometimes a package will miss a departure scan from a terminal and show up at your house before the tracking is updated.

I've turned stalking my tracking numbers into a fine art over the years.

I've dealt with china shipping before. Took 3 months for a package once. But thanks for the info, just want my apple tv and have no patience!

If you didn't order any special shipping such as two day, this is completely normal. This is why I usually spend the extra to get overnight or two day.

Why not buy directly from local Best Buy if you want it ASAP?

Last time I bought an ATV2 from them, I was able to return it without restocking fee.

LMAO!
I too am a package stalker. I check my tracking numbers multiple times a day (even when it gives me a delivery date on the tracking page) and you are correct about missing scans. If your package has been in the same location for more than 12 hours and it is domestic there is a good chance it missed the scan.

I just recently ordered a custom Sony Vaio laptop from the Sony Store website and after it was built FedEx picked up the package in Shanghai, China at 11AM(my time) on Aug 7th and it was at my door at 10AM (my time) on Aug 8th!!! That was using the standard "free" shipping.

In the US UPS will let it sit if it looks like you might actually get it early, you should get it late if possible. I've had fedex deliver early. UPS has it so they do not have to deliver it to the wrong street early. They want to make sure my packages get to someone else on the exact day or later.

I won't even go into how bad fedex is in mexico, they don't even try just say the address is bad when it's not. EVERY time. Dhl is good here, quite the opposite than my experience in the us.

My rant on delivery services.

This is true. I have gotten so many packages meant for other people over the years. In one week, I got a huge package that was delivered to the right numerical address, just the wrong street. That same week, I also got two days worth of mail that was meant for neighbors or the same numerical address on another street. This seems to be a growing trend.

Not to mention it's usually delivered so late I have to go get it myself or worry about someone else opening it overnight.

UPS also has a habbit of slapping a sticker on the door saying nobody is home while I am sitting there in the living room. No doorbell ring, door knock, nothing. Just slap and run.

Sometime last summer UPS dropped off two heavy, large Dell boxes on our front door. Not our address or name on the label - not even close.

When we got home, my wife and I looked at each other with the "did you order computer equipment" look.

UPS came and got the boxes within 20 minutes of calling the 800 number and telling them they mis-delivered the packages. I would imagine they were a bit more careful in the second delivery attempt.

So my shipment finally moved a few days ago, and now it's frozen again. I was expecting it to come today, but I totally forgot it was labor day. Sigh.

Me too! Our USPS/UPS/FedEx guys all come at the same time, so I'm literally waiting for them with open arms. They all think I'm creepy

I had a 'doh' moment around 11:30 waiting for an order of stuff for my e-cig habit and then was sad. Oh well, new toys come tomorrow, no biggie.
